Webhook Reliability Workshop

A free two-hour online workshop for developers who own an integration that has to keep delivering. If your system sends or receives webhooks and a missed delivery means a broken promise to a customer, this session is for you. Bring your architecture, your retry logic and your worst incident — we will work through all of it together.

What you take away from the session

Two hours of practical material you can apply to your own integration the same week, whether you are sending your first webhook or firefighting your thousandth.

  • A delivery guarantee you can defend

Learn how to define what 'delivered' actually means in your system, and how to prove it to your team, your customers and your auditor.

  • Retries that do not make things worse

Backoff, jitter, idempotency keys and dead-letter queues explained as one coherent strategy rather than five disconnected tricks.

  • Visibility into silent failures

The metrics, logs and alerts that tell you a webhook is stuck before your customer does — and the ones that only create noise.

  • A replay plan for the bad day

How to safely re-drive a backlog of failed deliveries without duplicating side effects or hammering a struggling endpoint.

  • Signature verification done right

Signing, timestamping and replay protection, plus the common mistakes that make a signature check look secure while proving nothing.

  • A review checklist for your own design

A concrete list of questions to run against your current webhook pipeline the moment the session ends.

The running order

  1. 1

The failure modes that actually hurt

A tour of the ways webhook delivery breaks in production: timeouts that succeed, retries that duplicate, endpoints that accept and then drop, and queues that grow quietly until they do not.

  2. 2

    Designing for at-least-once delivery

We model a delivery pipeline end to end and decide where to put acknowledgment, where to put idempotency, and where persistence has to live so nothing is lost in a crash.

  3. 3

    Retries, backoff and dead letters

Worked examples of retry schedules with jitter, when to give up, how to quarantine poison payloads, and how to keep a dead-letter queue from becoming a graveyard nobody reads.

  4. 4

    Observability and replay

Which signals to emit, what a useful delivery dashboard looks like, and how to run a controlled replay that repairs a backlog without doubling your side effects.

  5. 5

    Live questions and design review

The last half hour belongs to you. Bring your current setup and we will look at it together, or listen while other teams describe theirs.

Practical questions

How much does it cost?

Nothing. The workshop is completely free, including the slides, the checklist and the recording. There is no upsell and no paid tier waiting at the end.

Will there be a recording?

Yes. Everyone who registers gets the full recording and the written materials within two working days of the session, so you can attend live, catch up later, or hand it to a teammate.

What do I need to know beforehand?

You should be comfortable with HTTP requests, status codes and the basic idea of a queue or retry. Beyond that there are no prerequisites — we explain the terminology as we go and do not assume prior on-call experience.

What should I bring?

Ideally a description of one integration you own, including how it delivers events and what happens when delivery fails. The live review slot is much more useful when you can talk through a real pipeline.

Which language or framework is this about?

None in particular. The session is about delivery guarantees, retry behaviour and observability, which look the same whether you build in Node, Python, Go, Java or something else entirely.

How do I join on the day?

Register with your email and we send you the joining details a few days before 14 October, plus a reminder an hour before we start. The session runs online and live, with time reserved for questions.
